CostPerSquare makes free calculators for homeowners planning a roof replacement, a repair or a remodel. You enter the measurements you can take yourself and get the numbers a contractor would work from: roof area in squares, pitch, materials to order and a realistic price range.
Where the numbers come from
The math is the standard geometry roofers and estimators use: footprint, overhang, pitch factor and waste. Price ranges are installed costs (materials and labor) taken from published US cost guides for 2026, such as Angi, HomeAdvisor, Fixr and the Cost vs. Value report. We review them and update the calculators when prices move.
What our estimates are not
An estimate is a starting point, not a quote. Local labor rates, permits, access, the condition of your decking and the materials you pick all change the final price. Use our numbers to plan a budget and to check that the quotes you get make sense.
How the site is funded
The calculators are free to use. The site is supported by advertising and, where you ask for it, by connecting you with local contractors for quotes. That never changes the numbers a calculator shows.
